Service Description: <DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;font-size:12pt"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>The Kansas Department of Health and Environment - Bureau of Environmental Field Services and Bureau of Water is responsible for monitoring water quality conditions in streams and publicly owned lakes and wetlands throughout Kansas. This Section also tracks environmental contaminant levels in fish and other aquatic life and performs special water pollution investigations in cooperation with the KDHE district offices and other governmental agencies. Information obtained through these efforts is applied in the development of the state's biennial water quality assessment and list of water quality-limited surface waters Integrated Water Quality Assessment report. Water quality data also are applied in the formulation of total maximum daily loads (TMDLs) for 303(d)-listed water bodies; in the derivation of permit limits for discharging wastewater treatment facilities; and in the development of aquatic recreational advisories and fish tissue consumption advisories.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>This data set includes all the ACTIVE monitoring sites for the Stream Monitoring Program (https://www.kdhe.ks.gov/1242/Stream-Chemistry-Monitoring-Program). The Lake and Stream Sites were combined into one dataset in early 2000's. Use the PROGRAM_CODE of LM/SC to filter. It does not include special monitoring programs like the Harmful Algae Bloom, Probabilistic Streams, etc.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>

Subject: Dataset includes KDHE Sampling Site Points for Waterbody and Streams. Includes only active sites for the sampling program. Waterbody/Stream can be split using the PROGRAM_CODE of LM (Lake) or SC (Stream).
